MILWAUKEE — The 30th annual AIDS Walk Wisconsin and 5K Run is happening along Milwaukee's lakefront on Saturday.

The event starts and finishes at the Summerfest Grounds. Gates open at 10:30 a.m., and registration for walkers and runners takes place during that time. There will be a light breakfast available, as well as children's activities, beer samples, and a DJ.

Opening ceremony is at 12:00 p.m., and the walk/run begins at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The route will include themed rest stops, medical support, and food/water.

AIDS Walk Wisconsin says the walk/run has raised more than $13.5 million for the fight against AIDS. The event has brought together more than 130,000 walkers and volunteers since 1990, who raise pledges to help people with HIV live longer, healthier lives.
