Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred in the 3200 block of West Hampton Avenue at 10:24 p.m. on Tuesday.

A westbound 2016 Nissan occupied by three Milwaukee men collided with a concrete bridge pillar at a high rate of speed.

One of the occupants was ejected from the vehicle and died on scene despite lifesaving efforts. A second occupant was transported to a local hospital and later died from his injuries.

When officers arrived, the third occupant fled from the vehicle armed with a pistol. He was taken into custody a short time later and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. Another pistol and an amount of what are believed to be narcotics were recovered from the vehicle.

The circumstances that led up to the crash are under investigation.
