PORT WASHINGTON – Police are investigating a shooting in downtown Port Washington that happened just blocks away from the police station.

According to police, the incident occurred just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of N. Franklin Street and E. Main Street.

Port Washington Police confirm an 18-year-old was shot while sitting in his own car. Police say after he was shot, he drove himself to the police station looking for help.

Police’s preliminary investigation reveals the victim was approached by two suspects who told him to get out of his car before shooting at him multiple times. The victim was hit by a least one bullet in the chest before the suspects ran from the scene. That’s when the 18-year-old man then drove himself to the police station. Suspect #1 is described as thin build, approximately 5’8’ tall, wearing a gray colored hoodie, armed with a dark colored semi-automatic handgun, possibly with an extended magazine. Suspect #2 is described as being taller than suspect #1, and wearing a black colored hoodie.
