15-year-old charged with plot to kill cops

A 15-year-old boy is in juvenile detention charged with conspiracy to commit murder.  Police say they were his target.

Court documents say he was plotting with two others to attack officers. But they did not realize how close he was to carrying out that plot until after his arrest - and that is not the only disturbing detail.

Wauwatosa Police say they have had several encounters with the 15 year old. A year ago they say he brought weapons to school.

On February 27, 2015 police found five knives on the teen. He was arrested and banned from Wauwatosa East High School.

On December 9, 2015, ten months later, police say he violated that ban and was ticketed for trespassing on school grounds.

February 10, a few weeks ago, police say the teen tagged the school and a squad car outside. Officers immediately started looking for him.

February 11, around 9:30 a.m., he was arrested. What they didn't know was that he had planned to attack them just hours later.

Police discovered the plot from the boy's own father two weeks after his arrest.

February 25, court documents say the man "recovered a large amount of ammunition from a slot cut into (his son's) mattress." Police say the teen stole the ammo from his own grandparents.

His father said he also discovered Facebook messages between his son and other people where "they were discussing the use of the stolen ammunition in a conspiracy to attack and kill police officers."

The orginal court documents says that was to happen March 11th, but TODAY'S TMJ4 discovered that was a mistake. The actual date was February 11th. The day of the boy's arrest.

TODAY'S TMJ4 went to the teen's house this afternoon but no one answered the door.

Police say this case is still an open investigation and they are still interviewing others who may be involved.
