13-year-old steals car, leads police on chase

Teen is facing numerous charges
Posted
MOUNT PLEASANT -- Several suspects caused a lot of damage trying to break into  the Porcaro Ford Dealership in Mount Pleasant overnight.

They broke the glass to get into the show room and bashed in the other side of the building.

Police said the suspects took off in several vehicles, leading police on a high speed chase.

Herbert Vogt lives off Washington Avenue just west of West Street. He's lived there for 15 years. When the speeds became too high and police made the call to stop the chase, Vogt heard what stopped one of the teen drivers.

"I just heard a big noise. I knew it was a crash," Vogt said.

A 13-year-old lost control of the stolen vehicle on Washington Avenue. He crashed in the median bringing a road sign down.

"I just seen a cop run over with his gun drawn and the kid got out of the van," Vogt said. "He told him to get on the ground. There were at least seven to eight cop cars."

The teen was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and is now facing numerous charges. Police said he was also arrested for burglary in Milwaukee County.

No word if any of the other suspects were arrested.
