KAUKAUNA — A 12-year-old boy was struck and killed by a school bus as he walked home from the first day of class in Kaukauna on Tuesday.
Police said the child lived near River View Middle School and was crossing a street when the bus came around the corner and hit him.
Miranda Casey's 7-year-old son was among the students on the bus that struck the boy.
Casey said some of the children were crying and that another bus took them home.
Police Lt. Jamie Graff tells WLUK-TV the State Patrol will help investigate the accident.
Kaukauna Area School District Superintendent Mark Duerwaecther said counselors will be available at all schools as long as needed.
