MILWAUKEE — Two people of interest are in custody after 11-year-old Shamariona McCloud was shot in the arm about 11:25 p.m. Wednesday night, the Milwaukee Police Department said in a news release.

Shamariona is recovering after she was shot when bullet holes ripped through her grandmother's home on Milwaukee's north side.

At least six bullet holes hit the home, which is near the 2900 block of North 44th Street. One pierced through a window, hitting Shamariona.

Police said preliminary information shows that this was no accident — a person purposely fired multiple gunshots into the home.

According to MPD, Shamariona is the seventh child to be harmed as a result of gun violence this year.
