ORIGINAL STORY:

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s office confirms one person has died after a traffic accident involving a motorized wheelchair. It happened at 17th and Vliet around 7:00 p.m. Saturday.

Milwaukee Police have not released any information about the wreck. According to crews on the scene, the accident involved two vehicles and a motorized wheelchair.

The aftermath showed only one of the cars remained on the roadway. That sedan had damage to both the driver and passenger sides. A van carrying ladders ended up on the sidewalk, just missing a bus stop shelter. Debris from what appeared to be a motorized wheelchair covered the sidewalk between the car and van. Some neighbors who live near this intersection said they heard a loud boom and rushed out.

"When I came outside and looked I seen a bunch of cars tumbled up and whatnot but I didn't know it was that fatal," said Sylvester Turner.  "That's just real tragic, I have feelings for it and it could have been one of mine."

TODAY’S TMJ4 crews on scene saw police interviewing people inside a county bus that had been parked at the scene during the accident.
