A sophomore at Marquette is getting some unexpected national attention.

Jamey Schilling attended Wednesday night's Marquette-Providence game.  And when the Friars' Kris Dunn walked up to the free throw line, he decided to do a little heckling.

“[I screamed] ‘I will literally pay you $10 if you miss this shot,’” says Schilling, “which he did!”

So being a man of his word, Schilling mailed a $10 check to Providence Athletics, along with a letter that is now going viral.

“I was only expecting, I mean at most, 100 favorites or something.” Schilling tells WTMJ. “I thought just a very small, close group would like it. But it’s just been absolutely unbelievable, which I think is a testament to social media and the Marquette community all around.”

Schilling says it’s hard to walk around campus now without someone noticing him.

“The $10 guy is kind of the nickname I’ve gotten from a few people,” he says. “When I pass by, some of my friends they’ll say, ‘He’s a man of his word, he’s a man of his word!’ Which is kind of a lot of fun to hear.”

And despite the unexpected attention, he doesn’t plan to stop the heckling anytime soon.

“We have something special planned for the Villanova game, so I guess stay tuned for that.”
