Kimberly-Clark has announced a voluntary recall of one of their tampon brands due to a defect across the United States and Canada.
The recalled brand is Kimberly-Clark's U by Kotex Sleek Tampons with regular absorbency due to a defect that could impact the performance of this product.
In some cases, users sought "medical attention to remove tampon pieces left in the body," the recall announcement said. There have also been a small number of reports of infections, irritation, injury and other problems. The company suggests people seek medical attention if they experience symptoms such as vaginal injury, irritation, urogenital infections, abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting.
The only tampons that are in this recall are the ones that were manufactured between Oct. 7, 2016 and Oct. 17, 2016 and were distributed Oct. 23, 2018.
No other U by Kotex-branded products are subject to this recall.
