Wisconsin U.S. Attorney vows to prosecute anyone who traveled with intent to riot in D.C.

MILWAUKEE — U.S. attorneys around the country, including many picked by President Donald Trump, are publicly acknowledging that crimes were committed when rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol Building Wednesday.

Those federal prosecutors say they will hold accountable anyone from their states who they can prove were involved in rioting and instigating violence.

Mathew Krueger, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin and top-ranking federal law enforcement official in our area, sent us a statement saying his office “will prosecute federal offenses related to civil unrest to the fullest extent possible, including any individuals who traveled from Wisconsin with the intent to riot.”

This comes as Washington, D.C. police release images of many of the suspected rioters. They say they’ll offer a reward up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of any of the people captured on camera.

The FBI making a similar plea, asking for tips or any digital media that show rioting and violence in the capitol building. They’ve set up a website exclusively for this, you just enter your information and click submit.
