Biden holds steady lead over President Donald Trump in Wisconsin, new Marquette poll finds

A newly released Marquette Law School poll finds that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden holds a steady lead over President Donald Trump.

The poll, released Tuesday afternoon, found that of those polled, 49 percent favored Biden, while 44 percent favored Trump.

The poll was conducted Aug. 4 through Aug. 9.

The poll sampled 801 registered voters in Wisconsin, who were interviewed by cell phone or landline. The margin of error is +/- 3.9 percentage points. 675 likely voters were also included in the poll, with a margin of error of +/- 4.2 percentage points.

The poll also asked voters over coronavirus pandemic concerns, including the wearing of masks and whether or not children should return to in-person learning at the start of the new school year.

In wearing masks in public, 69 percent of voters agreed it should be required. 29 percent disagreed.

61 percent of those polled said they approve of the way Gov. Tony Evers has handled the pandemic, while 35 percent did not approve.

45 percent of voters said they feel comfortable sending children back to school in the fall, while 48 percent said they feel uncomfortable.
