The qualification process for Team USA's men's and women's beach volleyball teams is still ongoing. The United States can qualify up to two teams for both men and women's beach volleyball.

Both women's pairings have been finalized. April Ross and Alix Klineman have qualified for the Olympics as the top duo for Team USA, while they will be joined by Sarah Sponcil and Kelly Claes. U.S. beach volleyball legend Kerri Walsh Jennings will miss the Olympics for the first time since making her debut in 2000.

On the men's side, Jake Gibb and Taylor Crabb enter the Games as the top U.S. men's pairing. Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena, who competed together in Rio, will also be competing in Tokyo.

The pairings set to compete in Japan are as follows:
