Here’s a heads up if you are purchasing new furniture. Before you buy, there are a few things that you might want to do to avoid having buyer’s remorse.

The most common issues tend to be poor quality for which a store or manufacturer will not stand behind, delivery issues, and orders that cannot be canceled or returned.

Consumer Problem or Complaint? Contact CALL 4 ACTION

Whenever possible, try to work things out with the owner or manager of the store. If they are unwilling to help, contact the manufacturer. if you cannot get resolution via one of these routes, contact consumer groups like our call for action office for help.

Before you buy, do your homework. Check out the reputation of the store, the manufacturer, and the particular piece of furniture you are buying. Ask questions and do your research on the quality of things like fabric, frame, and mechanisms. Online forums can be a good source for providing a heads up, but check well-known consumer sites as well. Also ask about warranties, delivery dates, and terms and conditions, and get this information in writing.

Keep in mind, that in some cases, you might not be entitled to a refund or able to cancel an order. And, if possible, use a major credit card for the purchase.

Not only might this allow for the opportunity to dispute a charge if something is bad or never shows up, but many credit card companies offer benefits that could extend warranties and provide additional assistance if something goes wrong.
