Calling all fans of true crime: A streaming service will pay you $1,000 if you can binge watch 24 hours of true crime documentaries and share your experience on social media.
MagellanTV, a niche streaming service for documentary fans, is taking applications from stay-at-home sleuths who can “survive 24 hours of true crime.” You technically will have 48 hours to watch the pre-selected lineup of shows, which includes documentaries about cult leader and convicted murderer Charles Manson, a documentary about online dating called “Murder on the Internet,” and a small docuseries on “Crimes that Made History.” In that series, the first episode focused on Jack the Ripper, who terrorized London in the late 1880s.
In all, whoever nabs this chilling gig will be tasked with watching 16 programs.

For the record, enjoying true crime as entertainment is absolutely normal. Psychologists explain that a lot is at play, but a fascination with true crime can help us feel more prepared should we find ourselves in a dangerous situation while also allowing us to explore our fears in a controlled setting, among other things.
