MT PLEASANT -- Instead of breaking up a party, police held a house party of their own.

More than 100 children and their families had the chance to celebrate Christmas early on Sunday.

Officers assigned to the C.O.P. House, which stands for Community Oriented Police, hand-delivered invitations to families in the Lakeside Neighborhood who are middle to low income.

Along with gifts, the children had breakfast and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Clause.

It took a lot of preparation by volunteers and sponsors to get to this point.

"Its the meaning of Christmas people still got the heart to give to others," said one parent who brought his twins to the event.

For the rest of the year the C.O.P. House in the Lakeside Neighborhood is a safe haven for people to learn and play.
