Police have arrested three people in connection with a rash of tire thefts across Milwaukee’s downtown and East side.

Court documents suggest the thieves could be responsible for stealing tires and wheels from six to 10 vehicles.

Randy Rivera, Erick Rosado-Cruz, and a juvenile teen boy were arrested after police received a tip with a description of the suspects and their getaway vehicle. The tip came from a front desk worker at the Astor Hotel who saw the alleged thieves in the act.

According to court documents, once police tracked down the men Rivera told them they had been looking for Honda Fit’s. Rivera said those cars were targeted because their wheels and tires would fit on just about any other model vehicle with four lug nuts.

The adults in the case were charged with four counts of theft and one count of attempted theft.
