The Wisconsin State Fair is one of the best places to spend a day with the kids, but a lot of children in the hospital don't get to experience the sights and sounds of the fair.

That's why for the last seven years, the fair has brought the fun to them.

"The guy was in bed all day, we came down to have some fun cheer him up," said Terrell Green, whose son Lucas has been in the hospital since Monday.

Terrell and his wife Shelby said they knew they wouldn't make it to the fair this year.

"He's a little homesick so this is a good event to take his mind off of what's going on upstairs," Shelby said.

The State Fair, Children's Hospital and Kohl's brought vendors, entertainers, and even a couple of therapy dogs dressed up like livestock.

All for kids like Dominic Kaminski who just went through open heart surgery.

"I think this is so sweet, the nurse just told us about it today," said Brandy Kaminski, Dominic's mother. "She gave me the flyer and said go stop down there what a nice thing for kids who can't get out and are stuck here."

Children and families were able to eat fair food like cream puffs, play games and meet the 2017 Fairest of the Fairs Rebecca Starkenburg.

"It is one of the greatest experiences and one of those things that really puts things in perspective for you," said Jen Puente with the State Fair. "We're just so proud that we can bring the State Fair to all these kids and all these families that wouldn't get to experience the fair otherwise."
