WEST ALLIS -- It is almost that time, again. The 2017 Wisconsin State Fair is in the final stages of preparation for next week's opening day and crews are already setting up the rides.
The largest ride at the fair this year, the "WonderWheel."
Riders board enclosed gondolas that hold up to six people. The rides will be 10 minutes, with an average of 1,100 fairgoers able to ride each hour.
The Wisconsin State Fair is one of only three fairs at which the ride will be featured this year.
"It's the largest traveling Ferris wheel in the country and its only been at one other fair. That's it," said Kristin Chuckel with the Wisconsin State Fair. "It has a 10 mile view from the top. If it's a clear night, you'll be able to see the city of Milwaukee. It will be absolutely beautiful."
The Wisconsin State Fair is known to have diet destroying treats. This year is no different. Some new tasty treats include apple pie nachos, bacon ravioli, and if you're feeling adventurous, cricket nachos.
The state fair runs August 3 to August 13.
