MILWAUKEE -- Dozens of people woke up in tents this morning along Milwaukee's lakefront. These fireworks fanatics have been camped out since Monday morning securing prime seating for tonight's US Bank fireworks show.

“I came yesterday by 1 pm," Juan-Carlos said. "[I] slept over with my kids and grandkids."

But not everyone was able to get a good night sleep —

“No sleep whatsoever," Talesha said.  "We’ve been here since about 11:30 last night.”

SUMMERFEST NEWS:

Talesha said she and her family pitched their tents in the middle of the night and they’ve been up ever since.

Unlike Jenny and her grandkids —they were at Veterans Park early Monday morning and they repeated the same earlier riser routine Tuesday, munching their way through breakfast to start the day.

“We’ll just hang out at the lakefront today and enjoy our day and getting to know our neighbors," Jenny said.

One neighbor in particular jenny might want to get to know is Mike Gill. Mike has been scouting out the best seat in the house for 30 years now and he says he’ll well-versed in planning for what should be a fantastic day of festivities.

“It’s about meeting new people," Mike said. "It’s about a great festival without being a festival."

The big show starts at 9 pm.
