Day 8: Summerfest guide for Thursday, July 4

Posted at 6:38 AM, Jul 04, 2019

MILWAUKEE — Here is what you need to know if you head to Summerfest on the Fourth of July:

Megadeth was supposed to headline today, but the band's concert was canceled due to health issues. Dave Mustaine, the lead singer of Megadeth, recently was diagnosed with throat cancer.

The band originally was set to perform at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater with special guests Papa Roach, Pop Evil and Badflower. There will be no replacement headliner.

Notable musicians on the free stages:

  • X Ambassadors
  • Sublime with Rome
  • Courtney Barnett
  • Vic Mensa
  • Chris Janson

You can see the full lineup here.

Free tickets anyone?

The first 15,000 fans who downloaded the Summerfest App on their phones will get free admission today. Limit one per device.

Anything to do besides just bands?

Of course! Summerfest has an endless stream of things to check out, but may we suggest the Dead Man's Carnival? The Big Gig's street performers are an underrated treat.

What's the weather looking like?

Bring a poncho just in case -- it's not going to be an all-day rain, but chances for scattered showers and storms do increase after noon today.
