BROWN DEER -- Although the heat advisory is for most of Wisconsin, in the Village of Brown Deer , their Fourth of July parade is packed both on and along the streets. Many parade goers took refuge from the hot sun under shady trees, some wore hats, and a few just grinned and bared it.

Some families created cool shelters with umbrellas, fans and coolers filled with cold drinks. Others opted for longer clothing or hanging out under tents to stay cool.

Whatever you do, says North Shore Fire Department Lieutenant Dan Tyke, make sure you take breaks from the heat and stay hydrated.

"If you are outside for more than a couple hours you need to probably get about half that amount of time inside, in the shade," says Lt. Tyke.

Tyke adds for every juice/pop/alcoholic beverage you drink, you should have at least two cups of water to stay safely hydrated.
