5 things to do around Milwaukee this weekend

MILWAUKEE — City of Festivals lives up to its name this weekend. Claire Koenig from Visit Milwaukee tells us what you can do around Milwaukee:

Croatian Fest
Embrace your roots or learn more about Croatian culture at Croatian Park (9100 S. 76th St., Franklin) on Saturday. A Mass will kick off the fest at 10 a.m., with cultural programming and live music by Rakija Bend all day. Enjoy familiar flavors including Sarma, lamb, pork, chicken and Croatian desserts. Admission is free.

Festa Italiana
Milwaukee transforms into a Little Italy this weekend. Watch an eating contest or ciao down on some of the most delicious eats. KC and the Sunshine Band headlines Saturday night, with Phil Vassar on Sunday night. Festa is complete with wine tastings, cooking demonstrations and gondola rides. There is something for everyone at Henry Maier Festival Park this weekend.

Dance Fest at NO Studios
On Saturday, Ailey dance group will perform two ballets at the Sherman Phoenixand team up with local dance companies Danceworks Performance MKE, Ton Ko-Thi Children's Performing Ensemble, Signature Dance Company, The Milwaukee Irish Dance Company, Water Street Dance Milwaukee and WoLF Studios. Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

Moon Landing Celebration at Discovery World
On Saturday at Discovery World, celebrate 50 years since the Apollo 11 moon landing. The event features hands-on activities and demonstrations that are good for all ages. Also a great option for those looking to be indoors this weekend.

Walk the Footsteps of a Civil War Soldier
Take a guided tour of the Hank Aaron Trailand the nationally recognized Historic Soldier’s Home Campus. The campus was established after the Civil War for soldiers as a place for healing. The tour is led by Melissa Cook, the trail manager. If you're interested, meet in the 700 block of South 56th Street (north of National Avenue) at 9 a.m. Saturday.
