10 family-friendly (and free) things to do at the State Fair

Looking for something the whole family can enjoy at this year's State Fair? Well look no further than these family-friendly, and free, activities to take part in:

The Exposition Center will be the location of the Activity Stage, which will feature the WSMA Youth Showcase, Brew City Wrestling, AAU Judo Championship, Bench Press Competition, appearances by Green Bay Packers Hall of Famer LeRoy Butler, amateur dance groups and more. 

The Daily Parade, which occurs daily of course, will start at 2 p.m. and feature the Fairest of the Fairs, street entertainers, mascots, tractors, marching bands and more. 

The Junior Amateur Talent Competition will take place Aug. 12 at the new Associated Bank Amphitheater. 

The K-9 Sports Arena will host hourly shows on the weekends and additional shows on the weekends. Fairgoers can dog dock diving, Frisbee, agility courses, police K-9 units and more. The K-9 Sports Arena is located in the Big Backyard. 

In the Racing Animals Arena, don't miss the Saz's Racing Pigs at 10:30 a.m., 12:30, 1:30, 3:30, 4:30, 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. everyday of the fair.

Watch sea lions balance balls, shoot hoops and even perform handstands at Sea Lion Splash. Shows run 12:30, 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. daily. 

As fairgoers stroll through the Fair Park, they are encouraged to keep an eye out for exciting and unique street entertainers. Each performer has a different show, and will change throughout the Fair! 

The State Fair will have plenty of food vendors and sponsorsdishing up delicious treats and deals for everyone, but some will even be hosting their own free live music and entertainers. 

The Wilderness Resort Family Variety Stage in the Big Backyard will host a variety of entertainment every day of the fair. The stage features jugglers, comics and more.

Agriculture is one of the backbones of Wisconsin's economy and to learn more about the industry, head to the Wisconsin Products Pavilion Stage to hear and informative and entertaining agricultural tale. Fairgoers can also meet some of Wisconsin's agricultural producers.

The State Fair runs from Aug. 2-12 and is only $14 for adults, $8 for seniors, military/veterans and youth and the fair is free for children 5-years-old or younger.
