A community in South Milwaukee came together to help out a fellow neighbor whose snowman was destroyed by vandals last week.

Three adults left Brew Town Pub and Grille, walked down the street and destroyed a family's snowman decoration. When bar owners, Miro Sreckovic and Shamah Stark heard the news they both wanted to help.

"It made me sick to my stomach to know there was a family bothered in the middle of the night. You just shouldn't have to go through that stuff," said Miro.

Shamah set up a simple mason jar labeled "snowman fund" and placed it inside Miro's bar. After a quick Facebook post asking if people would be willing to pitch in -- the money started pouring in.

"It’s not always about what you're giving it’s about the gesture of giving and showing somebody you care and you want to make a wrong situation right for them," said Shamah.

Together the community raised $200 and a new snowman for the neighbor. But Shamah said it was not about the money or the decoration, it was about helping their fellow neighbor out.

"It was really nice to kind of change the story from something being so negative to a positive and make their Christmas a little extra special," said Shamah.

"A lot of people went out of their way and it just kind of melted my heart that these total strangers came out of nowhere and wanted to help out and do the right thing," said Miro.

Three adults were cited for the property damage.
