Tips for hiring a wedding photographer

and last updated

When couples hire a wedding photographer, they may assume that everything will go perfect and stay within the prices quoted. But, unfortunately, our office receives a number of complaints that range from lost pictures, photographers who did not show and prices that were higher than expected.

When hiring a photographer, here are a few things that you may want to consider to avoid a problem later.

Check out the photographer’s reputation with multiple sources including the Better Business Bureau and others who have used the services.

Ask questions about what specifically is included in the price of the package. Sometimes couples are surprised by additional costs for an assistant, proofs, touch-ups or other fees.

Ask about back-ups. This includes back-up staff if your photographer is unable to make it on your special day as well as how your photos will be backed up on that day. You do not want to learn too late that your photographer lost your photos due to theft, equipment problems or other issues.

How long will it take to receive your proofs and finished pictures?

When signing a contract, make sure to read the fine print and get as much information in writing as possible.

Most photographers do a good job at a fair price. But, if you run into a problem that you cannot resolve on your own, contact our Call 4 Action office for help.
