ESPN play-by-play commentator Beth Mowins will become the first woman to call a nationally televised NFL game this fall when she announces the second game of the Monday Night Football doubleheader.

Mowins and former NFL head coach Rex Ryan will be on the call for the Los Angeles Chargers-Denver Broncos matchup.

Mowins is replacing legendary ESPN broadcaster Chris Berman, who typically called the second game of the 'MNF' doubleheader, but retired after last season.

The last woman to do play-by-play for the NFL was Gayle Sierens, who was in the booth for a Seattle Seahawks-Kansas City Chiefs game that aired regionally.

Mowins has been a play-by-play voice at ESPN since 1994, and has worked in college football, basketball, softball, and soccer. She has also called Oakland Raiders preseason games since 2015.
