MENOMONEE FALLS -- They are obedient, playful and great with children. Golden Retrievers have become the classic family companion, but so many are neglected or abused.

Barb Hart with Wisconsin Adopt A Golen Retriever joined us live on Daybreak to share with our Julia Fello, how her Golden "Lady" was rescued through this effort.

Lady's bills were more than $3,000. She lost her eye because of a detached retina.

An event happening in Menomonee falls will have 30 decorated trees with ornaments in a home.

It helps pay for medical bills, so these wonderful animals can find forever homes. One of their other rescues had bad teeth and needed $3,000 worth of dental work, and another needed over $3,000 worth of orthopedic surgery. WAAGR has had a few dogs that cost a lot more than that. One year our vet bills were $60,000. Foster homes are also needed.

13th Annual Goldens' Holiday House is taking place Saturday, December 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at N61W12851 Hemlock Court in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
