ELLSWORTH -- A Wisconsin woman has been convicted of hiding her boyfriend's corpse, but the jury could not agree on whether she was guilty of homicide for killing him.

Douglas Bailey was found in a box along a road in Hazard, Kentucky, in December. The 51-year-old was a trucker who was reported missing after he failed to show up for Thanksgiving in Peoria, Illinois.

The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram reports the Pierce County jury found Rose Kuehni, of Prescott, guilty Thursday of hiding his corpse, but split on the second-degree homicide charge. The 45-year-old testified she acted in self-defense in the November shooting after a long history of abuse.

She gave the boxed-up body to an acquaintance who allegedly dumped it in Kentucky.

A hearing on a retrial is set for Wednesday.
