A Walworth County woman is asking for her community's help with finding an irreplaceable piece of jewelry.

Jamie Krueger's 21-year old son, Codie, passed away on Aug. 1, 2011.

"He loved to ski. He loved to four-wheel. He just loved life," she said.

Krueger said Codie became involved with drugs at the age of 19, and first experimented with heroin at 20.

The family did "anything they could" to get him to kick the habit and, after a brief stint without the drug, Codie used again.

"He used that one last time, and that took his life," Krueger said.

Since Codie's passing, Krueger has worn a necklace containing his ashes 24/7, 365 days a year.

"I felt like I still had him close to my heart, you know?" Krueger said. "I knew he was gone, but the necklace was a very good remembrance of him."

Tuesday, around 1 p.m., she noticed the necklace was missing when she returned home to Elkhorn after a brief trip to nearby Target and Walmart stores in Lake Geneva.

"I never took it off. Never, ever," she said. "So having it lost is just heartbreaking. It's very hard for me."

Since the necklace went missing, Krueger, along with her friends and family, have returned to both stores several times to search for it.

"My husband even went last night and combed the whole Walmart parking lot," Krueger said. "Just up and down every single row."

So far, they haven't had any luck.

The family has also shared the news of the missing necklace via Facebook, in the hope that someone who found it might see the social media chatter and return it.

"I just want it back, no questions asked," Krueger said. "It means the world to me."
