MILWAUKEE -- A woman's only child and her mother are both dead, killed Friday in a north side hit and run.
Lashawnda Reynolds joined a vigil Monday night asking for the community to get justice for her family.

She says her son, Taeshawn Griffin, 8, was in Milwaukee to visit his grandmother, Danielle Triggs, 46, and his cousin. He was riding in a car  when it was hit by a SUV that ran a stop sign at 39th and Hadley.

"We are now burying two parts of our family," the boy’s aunt, Laurice Triggs, said.

Milwaukee Police released cellphone video of the two males driving the Audi SUV that was reported stolen in Racine County earlier this month.

Investigators say the individuals ran away after hitting the car with three adults and four children inside. Witnesses say they came back to the scene shortly afterward, but but only to grab something out of the stolen SUV.

At the same time, Danielle Triggs, was taking her last breaths.

"I had to watch my momma die in my hands," said Linert Rhodes.

Taeshawn died Sunday, according to his family. He lived in Atlanta but was visiting his grandmother until July. Three other children were also in the car that was hit. They are still hospitalized.

"They are still under serious, serious care. Not walking, not moving, completely broken, arms, legs, heads, contusion, stitches across the face. So much," Laurice Triggs said.

The family wants help tracking down those responsible.

"He was riding around in this vehicle. You've seen him. Tell me where you saw him," Laurice Triggs said.

"I hope they catch them and they get what they deserve," Rhodes says.

The family has a donation page set up to help with funeral expenses.
