NEW GLARUS -- On the heels of a successful test with a different brew, New Glarus Brewing Company has started selling Spotted Cow, its top selling beer, in cans.

The Wisconsin-based brewery announced earlier this year that it would be making the jump to cans. In June, the experiment officially began with the company's Moon Man beer.

New Glarus says it decided to offer Spotted Cow in cans "based on requests from customers as well as the environmentally friendly nature."

In keeping with the company's "Only in Wisconsin" motto, every piece of the new can's packaging was made in Wisconsin. The brewery says cardboard for 12-packs comes from Neenah, the cans themselves are made in Fort Akinson, and even the can filler is built in Waukesha.

"An added plus is that the cost of the can, from manufacturing to shipping, is less expensive, allowing the brewery to offer cans of beer at a lower price," a release from the company reads.

New Glarus Brewing Company was created in 1993, and has been employee owned since 2015. Find the new cans in your neighborhood with a "beer finder" here.
