Even though he is a beast on the football field, J.J. Watt has an emotional side off the gridiron.

The Houston Texans defensive end wrote a Mother's Day letter to his mom for an ESPN feature on Sunday.

While Watt read the letter he wrote aloud, his mother, Connie, was in the next room listening to him speak through a monitor.

In the letter, Watt described how much his mom meant to him:

"From my perspective, throughout my entire life, you've always had the whole world figured out," Watt wrote.

"You've always been the most kind, loving, passionate, hardest-working person that I've ever known. You and Dad taught [brothers] Derek, T.J., and I that we could accomplish anything we wanted to in this world."

J.J. is the oldest of the three Watt sons -- Derek is a fullback for the Los Angeles Chargers, and T.J. was drafted by Pittsburgh in the first round last month.

The feature also included athletes from around various leagues, including Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper.
