Russia - Russia - Russia. It's in the news everyday.  Now an anti-President Donald Trump supporter is trying to tie Gov. Scott Walker to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

PolitiFact Wisconsin put it to the Truth-O-Meter.

Scott Dworkin is not a household name but Putin's name is in the news a lot these days.

Now Dworkin, an anti-Trump Democratic strategist, is making claims about Walker.

"We are fact checking a series of tweets that say Scott Walker took $1 million from a pro-Putin Ukrainian businessman," said Tom Kertscher of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

That claim refers to Walker's short lived 2016 run for president.

PolitiFact Wisconsin looked at financial records and found a $1 million donation.

"What we found is that there is a business in New York City that was founded by a Ukrainian native," Kertscher said. "That business did give $1 million to a super PAC supporting Walker.”

But hold on, what about the pro-Putin claim?

PolitiFact Wisconsin also looked into the business owner's background and that's where the claim falls apart.

"However the businessman, though he was born in the Ukraine, has lived in London and New York for a number of years, he is a US citizen," Kertscher said, "and we can't find any clear evidence that he is 'pro-Putin'.”

PolitiFact Wisconsin rated this claim Mostly False.
