MOUNT PLEASANT -- Two car dealerships were broken into in Mount Pleasant early Thursday.

The first incident happened at approximately 1:45 a.m. the Palmen Chrysler, 8320 Washington Ave., and the other happened at the Racine Toyota, 13350 Kilbourn Dr.

At Palmen Chrysler, police said the suspect(s) smashed the glass to a showroom walk in door, then attempted to steal a Jeep Cherokee by driving it into the glass wall repeatedly.

They were unsuccessful and the Jeep was abandoned running jammed against the wall half way out of the building. Then, officials said the suspect(s) unsuccessfully attempted to steal another vehicle on the showroom floor.

Just down the road, there was another break-in at the Toyota dealership. This time, the suspects smashed the glass at a walk in door near the service department and then drove a car from inside the service department through the overhead garage door. They abandoned that car on the lot.

It is unknown if any vehicles were taken.

On Monday, the Ford dealership in Mount Pleasant was also broken into. Three cars were taken. A 13-year-old boy was arrested after leading police on a chase.

Mount Pleasant police said the suspect(s) may be in the white or grey Ford Escapes, which were taken that day.
