An armed robbery occurred on Nov. 26 at the BP gas station in Mequon, Wisconsin.

Around  9:35 pm, a suspect threatened an attendant at BP with a handgun,  demanding money. The suspect fled the scene with a sum of money.

"[The BP employee] was pretty rattled by the time I was here," said BP Manager Rebecca Kleckner. "The employee working last night was over by our coffee pots cleaning up and [the suspect] came up behind him and told him to give him the drawer. He brandished a gun and at that point, [the employee] knew it was real."

The suspect is believed to be attached to numerous other armed robberies throughout the Milwaukee area, including an incident at another Mequon gas station just nine days before.

"We believe they started with our first one on the east side from what I'm aware of," said Det. John Hoell with the Mequon Police Department. "It's similar to other agencies in the metropolitan area of the same person committing armed robberies in their gas stations."

Police are looking for 27-year-old Raymond Allan Hartel who is believed to have information regarding the robberies. Hoell said they identified Hartel in surveillance video from both BP and Clark gas stations. Hartel allegedly drives a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic.

"He's the normal person you could see on the street," Hoell said. "If someone knows him, and obviously people do know him, he needs to bring it to an end. It doesn't seem like he's slowing up at all. Most likely, it won't stop until he turns himself in or gets caught."

Hartel has multiple convictions for thefts and burglaries in recent years.

Anyone with further information about Hartel or the robberies is asked to contact the Mequon Police at 262-242-3500.
