GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers have parted ways with running back James Starks, according to a report from ESPN.

Reporter Field Yates tweeted the news that the injured Starks would no longer be with the green and gold Tuesday afternoon:

Starks appeared in 76 games across seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers, starting in 13. He played a crucial role in the team's Super Bowl run during the 2010-2011 season, racking up more than 300 yards in four playoff games.

Starks hadn't played since Week 14 after suffering a concussion, and the emergence of Ty Montgomery as a threat at the position made the aging back more expendable.

He finished with totals of 1,017 rushing yards and six touchdowns with Green Bay.
