MILWAUKEE -- One victim's garden is certainly bearing fruit.

That's the greater message - and metaphor - for Milwaukee's Johnson's Park neighborhood as family and friends of Kurt Pierzchalski gathered Sunday for a candlelight vigil.

Pierzchalski, 35, was shot and killed early Wednesday outside his home in the 1700 block of N. 18th Street. He had only moved in six months ago, but neighbors say me made an immediate impact, especially with a community garden in his yard

"Some of the positive things that can come out of this is for people to take note of the camaraderie," Tony Gibson, the chairman of Johnson's Park Neighborhood Association, tells TODAY'S TMJ4. "What the city can learn from this is you can take your neighborhood back. Your neighborhood can belong to good people."

The vigil drew a multi-racial and multi-generational crowd.

Pierzchalski will be buried Wednesday in Milwaukee. Milwaukee Police continue to search for suspects in his death.
