Milwaukee speedskater Katherine Reutter-Adamek is hoping to compete in the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

The two-time Olympic medalist took home a silver and a bronze medal during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics as a member of the US short-track speedskating team.

Following three surgeries and a retirement in 2013, she is now redefining herself as the comeback queen.

"It's a challenge for anyone to wholeheartedly put themselves out there with the fear of failure and say, 'I'm doing it anyway,'" Reutter-Adamek said.

The speedskating Olympic trials are being hosted in Milwaukee  at the Pettit National Ice Center on Jan. 22, 2018.

The XXIII Olympic Games Opening Ceremony takes place in PyeongChang, South Korea in just under 100 days.

The Olympic flame arrived in South Korea Tuesday, where torchbearers will carry the flame more than 1,200 miles.
