A 19-year-old Milwaukee man is dead after a single car crash that split the vehicle in two on Fond du Lac Avenue near Capitol Drive.

Daryl Brown was going eastbound on Fond du Lac Avenue in a Lexus at a high rate of speed and hit the curb, slamming into a tree. He was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brown’s family showed up at the scene, after getting word of the accident. They say he was on his way to work at Checkers at Fond du Lac and Burleigh.

“This is hard,” said Brown’s grandmother, Marjorie Jordan. “He was a good kid. He took care of me and my grandson with special needs. He’s too young. He was making plans for the future. He was going back to school. He was expecting twins.”

Jordan was angry to learn some people in the area of the crash, snapped photos and recorded videos of it.

“It was posted on Facebook,” she said. “As it was happening. How could somebody be that cruel?”

Brown would have turned 20 later this week.
