A Milwaukee bookstore just received the honor of being called Wisconsin's best bookstore.

Boswell Book Company on Downer Avenue received the recognition this week from Real Simple Magazine. The magazine featured the store on its online version, after partnering with Yelp to analyze customer reviews and star ratings.

Daniel Goldin, the proprietor of Boswell Book Company, said he knew ahead of time that his store would receive this designation and finds it amazing.

"We love books," Goldin said. "We have lots and lots of books, we try to display them in different ways. We do a lot of event programming to promote both national authors and also local people."

And their customers love them too, since that's the main reason they made the top of the list. Even first time customers like Gwen Worley who says her daughter recommended the store.

"She said this bookstore is fantastic so my husband and I decided to come in and it is fantastic, she wasn't lying," Worley said.

In an era where local bookstores have become a rarity, Goldin said they try to come up with reasons to draw people inside.

"The idea of an experience in a bookstore is you should discover something that you didn't know you wanted," Goldin said.

He said they are always working to improve as well and while he appreciates this honor, he knows they can make the store better.

"I just want to be something that makes Milwaukee stand out and be a little special," he said.
