The bar and restaurant Hotch on Milwaukee’s East side is set to close at the end of next month.

The owner Angie Storm told our partners at the Milwaukee Business Journalthat the restaurant will end it’s 11-year run on June 25.

Storm said the closure is catching her by surprise after she was notified by her landlord that building the restaurant occupied would be “going in a different direction.”

The bar opened in 2006 as Hotch-A-Do, rebranded as The Hotch Spot in 2012 and now goes by just Hotch.

It will be one of several bars and restaurants to close on the East side in recent months, like G-Daddy’s BBC Bar & Grill, Rosati’s Pizzaand Rascals on Murray, among others.

"I think the neighborhood is calling for less of the nightlife," Storm told the MBJ. "I think that's part of it. I think things like Uber and Lyft have not played to the advantage of neighborhood places because it’s a lot easier for people to get around and go to other areas. It’s a lot easier and a lot cheaper than it ever has been."

She has no plans at the moment to relocate Hotch or open a new restaurant.

"I love the neighborhood and I love Milwaukee so I'm not going anywhere," she told the MBJ. "It’s a shame. I think that that neighborhood is definitely changing, but we were really trying to roll with some of those changes and concentrate on (being) family friendly and giving the neighborhood what they wanted. But I don't know what the future is going to hold for me, at this point."`
