Dozens of protesters rallied outside Speaker Paul Ryan's office in Racine to urge the congressman to get more involved in President Trump's immigration policies.

The group was part of an effort by Milwaukee-based Voces de la Frontera. They are specifically asking that Ryan hold a town hall on the issues and support President Obama's already implemented DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program.

Valeria Ruiz, who is a DACA recipient herself, and whose family is mixed with both undocumented workers and US citizens, says the group is worried about removals from the US. Recently a Seattle DACA recipient  was detained by immigration officials for allegedly being part of a gang. Ruiz is worried that he may be the first of many.

She said "he could be the first DACA recipient to deported by the Trump administration, and that is something that affects me very personally, because I am a DACA recipient. So my fear is, is Daniel the first one, is he just the beginning, will they go after me next? "

Speaker Ryan's office responded to the protesters saying "Paul appreciates hearing the opinions and feedback of his constituents, he fully respects their right to voice their concerns, and he hopes any future demonstrations will continue to be conducted in a peaceful and civil manner."
