GRAFTON – The Grafton School District confirms a fourth-grade teacher has died from injuries she suffered in a car accident last week.

Jill Ruland, 50, was hit by another car last Wednesday afternoon on Highway 60 in Grafton.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s office says a 22-year-old man driving a Jeep crossed the center line and struck the car Ruland was in. That man and his 19-year-old passenger were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Ruland was transported to Froedtert Hospital by flight-for-life and later died.

Parents and students were informed of her death Monday in an email. The school district says, "Ruland made relationships with both staff and students that will last a lifetime."

Grief counselors will be on hand to help children cope with this tragedy.
