The school crossing guard who was hurt in a hit-and-run accident required amputation, according to a news release from Alderman Cavalier Johnson.

Andrew Tyler, 71, was hit Friday morning at 72nd Street and Carmen Avenue. Police said the suspect was driving a Flynn said a four-door red Buick LeSabre or Buick Park Avenue.

Johnson said his “wounds required amputation,” Monday morning.

“There is NO excuse for this dangerous and reckless behavior in our neighborhoods, and there are not enough words to console the victim and his family,” Johnson said in a statement. “Our children deserve to be safe when walking to school, and crossing guards should not fear for their safety.”

Johnson urged anyone with information to call Milwaukee Police at 414-935-7360.

There is aGoFundMe page set up in Tyler's name to help him pay medical expenses.
