MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin's eighth annual 'Free Fun Weekend' has been scheduled for June 6 and 7, the state Department of Natural Resources said Friday.

Wisconsinites can take advantage of free fishing, free trail passes, and free state park admission for those two days - a great opportunity to explore the outdoors.

During the Free Fun Weekend, no state park admission stickers or trail passes are required. People are allowed to fish without a license, but all other fishing regulations apply. ATVs, UTVs, and OHMs will also be exempt from registration requirements, and you won't need a trail pass to ride state ATV trails - even if you're from out of state.

The DNR notes that capacity limits are still in effect at some properties, and visitors are asked to stay close to their home parks if possible - all while practicing social distancing.

A limited number of day-use restrooms will be available beginning June 3. All other facilities - including towers, shelters, playgrounds, nature centers, contact stations, and concession buildings are still closed. The DNR says attractions where social distancing is not possible will be closed as needed.
