Smashed car windows spread in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- At least four more cars have had their windows shattered in Milwaukee this week. Now, Milwaukee police are hoping surveillance video will help them crack the case.

The video shows a dark car pulling up to the Bay View Terrace Condos, located at Shore and Ontario, early Tuesday morning.

Four guys get out and start smashing car windows. Ten cars were ransacked in the private parking lot, but police say 40 cars were hit on the city's south side.

Megan Harwig lives right next door to the Bay View Terrace Condos. She used to park her car on the street at night, until the crime started to increase.

"In addition to what just happened with the 40 cars, our neighbor had a car break-in over the summer," she said.

Milwaukee police are investigating if the same group is responsible for all the break-ins, but say in the past two days, two other areas have been hit.

Three cars were targeted near Barclay and Oregon, and one car was vandalized at Loyd and Martin Luther King.

Police are beefing up patrols on Sourth Shore Drive, but they say the surveillance video from the Bay View condos is helping in their investigation.
