Pay your energy bill or get disconnected by April 18

The winter moratorium is ending

Now that the weather is warming up, We Energies is reminding customers to start paying their energy bills before the winter moratorium ends.

On April 18, utility workers will start disconnecting people who are behind on their bills.

If you are unsure of your status, the company said they are using phone calls and bill inserts to alert customers who are behind.

If you are unable to pay your bill, here are some options:
  • Contact We Energies at 800-842-4565. A minimum payment option and flexible payment plans may be available.
  • Some people may qualify for energy assistance through the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program. Find more information about eligibility at www.homeenergyplus.wi.gov or by calling 866-HEAT-WIS (866-432-8947).
We Energies officials also said this is a popular time for scammers to prey on customers. A common example is when they call and ask for immediate payment from a prepaid debit card. We Energies said they do not ask for payments in that manner.

If you think you received a suspicious phone call or email,  contact We Energies to verify the status of your account.
