COLUMBIA COUNTY -- A badly injured dog who was abandoned and left in a camping bag is "hopefully on the mend," according to the Columbia County Humane Society.
In a Facebook post shared late Friday morning, the group explained that the dog was found by people who were near some hunting grounds in the Town of Fort Winnebago, just north of Portage.
When the Humane Society's staff member arrived, she "was told the dog was found in a large camping type bag that was zipped up."
The dog was immediately examined, and found to be in very poor condition. She had a large mammary tumor, and needed 19 staples to close the wounds on her head.
"We are furious this dog suffered whatever trauma she suffered and was discarded like trash," the post goes on to read. You can read the full post below:
