There will be many firsts for fans in the new Fiserv Forum arena, but Michael Williams didn't plan on being one of them. On Sunday, he asked his girlfriend to marry him during the Maroon 5 concert.
Michael and Jenna Schwingshakl met while both working at the same hospital. She's a nurse and he's a pharmacist. They've been dating since last summer.
For Christmas, Michael bought Jenna tickets for her and her friends to see Maroon 5 at the new arena.
"I just love Maroon 5, they're my favorite band," she said.
So imagine how shocked she was when she walked down onto the floor and saw Michael there, during the encore performance.
"My thought process through the whole thing was she's gonna come down to the floor, expecting to get close to Adam Levine and she's gonna find me and it's gonna be a disappointment," said Michael, laughing.
"I was not disappointed at all," she said.
They happen to have a friend who works at the arena and helped organize the surprise proposal. The friend told Jenna to come down to the floor at a certain point and he'd get her close to the stage.
Another member of the arena staff filmed the entire proposal, and it's a good thing too because Michael said he had planned to hit record on his phone, but didn't actually start the camera.
"It took me so long to figure out the right words to say," said Jenna. "My head is still spinning, I can't believe it."
The perfect way for them to start their next chapter, while also becoming part of Fiserv Forum's story.
"My favorite person, my favorite band, my favorite everything," said Jenna. "Everything worked out so perfectly."
